CBD is short for cannabidiol. It’s just 1 of 113 naturally occurring cannabinoids in the cannabis plant. It’s also the most studied cannabinoid due to its potential health benefits. CBD is extracted from hemp, which like marijuana, is a member of the cannabis family. But unlike marijuana, hemp contains only trace amounts of THC. CBD is non-psychoactive, you will not get high.
The human body is literally built to benefit from CBD. Like all vertebrates, we have an endocannabinoid system that recognizes cannabinoids derived from plants. CBD is being extensively researched to determine just how it interacts with this and other major systems of the body.
