Questions

What makes 6° Wellness different than other brands?

Many companies understand the basics of the endocannabinoid system and the active ingredients in hemp. However, 6° Wellness is one of the only companies whose employees have received upper level degrees, can interpret and convey new scientific knowledge about cannabis, are experts in the field and can perform relevant research on our products. Our C.E.O. received her Ph.D. in Neuroscience and Physiology from the University of Colorado Boulder. We care about our customers and we want to provide you with the most up-to-date information on how to best incorporate our products into your lifestyle. Further we have adopted a philanthropic model donating hemp extract to someone in need for everyone of our products sold. So you know that every time you make a purchase from 6° Wellness, together we are helping someone in need.

What is CBD?

CBD, or cannabidiol, is a compound found primarily in the flowers and leaves of the hemp plant. It’s one of over 100 compounds found in hemp.

What are the benefits on CBD and whole-plant hemp supplements?

Many people integrate CBD into their health routine to support overall health and wellness. We encourage you to talk to your doctor or health care provider about whether taking CBD would benefit you.

How does CBD oil work?

The human body has a vast network of receptors that are part of what is called the Endocannabinoid System. The main purpose of this system is to keep many other systems in balance.

What does CBD feel like? What will it feel like when I take CBD oil?

The effects of CBD will vary from person to person. It depends largely on the amount taken, and what your body has going on internally.

Will I get “high” if I consume CBD?

No, you will not get high from consuming 6 Degrees CBD. It is made entirely and only from industrial hemp, and does not contain any of the psychoactive properties of THC. CBD extracted from industrial hemp contains less than 0.3% of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) which federal law has deemed non-intoxicating; therefore, there is no “high” effect as a result of using CBD.

Will CBD show up on a drug test?

As a broad-spectrum hemp extract, in addition to cannabidiol (CBD) and more than 100 other cannabinoids in hemp, 6 Degrees CBD does contain less than 0.3% THC. These compounds can be additive, so if you are taking very high doses of our full-spectrum extract on a regular basis, it may be possible. Individual biochemistry varies by person, and there are many different forms and versions of drug testing with varied detection limits, so we strongly suggest consulting your health care provider before consuming any hemp products if you are subject to drug testing.

Is CBD from hemp the same as CBD from marijuana?

In short, yes the CBD found in hemp is the same as CBD found in marijuana. Hemp and marijuana both belong to the family of plants known as Cannabaceae and are genetically similar containing the same chemicals and cannabinoids, like CBD. Plants like hemp were selectively bred for their low THC content (less than 0.3%) while marijuana was selectively bred for its high THC content. The chemicals and cannabinoids contained within both types of plants would be indistinguishable if analyzed on their own.

What are the side-effects of CBD?

In general, reported side-effects of CBD use are minimal as reported in a review study from Germany which can be read here. While this was using human clinical populations the most common reported side-effects were tiredness, diarrhea, weight and appetite changes. However, not everyone experiences these effects and vary from person to person. If you feel any negative changes to your health while taking CBD we suggest you consult your doctor to see if these effects are a result of your CBD use, or another underlying condition.

Is it possible to overdose on CBD?

It is possible to overdose on almost anything, but there have been no reported cases of a CBD overdose in the literature.

How do I consume CBD?

The CBD oil we offer has a couple different applications. You can hold a sublingual dose under the tongue for 30-60 seconds (recommended for fastest absorption), swallow it, blend the oil in a health-conscious smoothie, or add it to your food.

Do your products only contain CBD?

No, our products contain more than just CBD. Our products are called full spectrum hemp extract because they contain all of the components found in the hemp plant. Research actually suggests that full spectrum hemp extract is more beneficial than CBD on its own, as CBD and the other active chemicals seem to produce a synergistic effect.

Will CBD help my condition?

There is not enough data to support the use of CBD for many of the conditions that people are seeking it for, however, we always encourage our users to educate themselves about current research through PubMed or Google Scholar instead of other sources that may be misleading. You can also check out our blog that profiles current research. Keep in mind, these research results reflect CBD in general, and not necessarily 6 Degrees’ CBD. Above all, talk to your doctor to determine if CBD use is right for you.

What is the entourage effect?

Sometimes called the “whole-plant” or “entourage effect,” cannabis offers a complex biochemical matrix of many of its compounds working together.

Why would I choose hemp over medical cannabis?

Because our products have less than 0.3% THC they make a desirable option to experience the support of the active components within cannabis without the intoxicating effects of THC.

What is the proper way to store CBD products?

We recommend storing our products in a cool dry are with minimal light exposure and relatively consistent temperatures.

Are your products organic?

While our growers implement organic growing practices, and are actively pursuing the USDA certification, the farm does not yet have its organic certification. There is only one farm in the US that has USDA organic certification as of July 2019, even though many products on the market tout USDA certification. Our MCT oil is USDA certified organic.

Legally, hemp derived CBD products like ours can not contain more than 0.3% THC. This is at a low enough concentration that you shouldn’t experience any psychoactive effects. What method of extraction do you use?

We use CO2 extraction to distill our full spectrum CBD. The benefit to CO2 extraction is that has high pressures CO2 becomes a semi-liquid in which CBD, terpenes and the other components of hemp can be dissolved in. When the CO2 is returned to normal pressure it returns to is gas state leaving just the extract (CBD, terpenes, etc.) behind with no harmful residue. The extract is then dissolved in MCT oil, which has many health benefits on its own, giving us the final product. This process insures that our products are pure and free from contamination.

Based on the TSA guidelines provided here, products containing less than 0.3% THC are permitted through US TSA checkpoints. This means that you can fly with your 6° Wellness products, as all of our products are verified to contain less than 0.3% THC. However, we recommend you print out or have a copy of our product testing results specific to your products lot number here (Link to that page on our website) prior to arriving at the airport just in case TSA requires verification. Please research other country’s policies on CBD before flying abroad, as laws are different from country to country. When in doubt, leave it at home.

Why is there a grapefruit warning?

CBD, like grapefruit, has been observed to interact with common pharmaceutical drugs like acetaminophen producing negative effects on the liver if both are taken in high doses. We always recommend checking with your healthcare provider prior to adding CBD to your lifestyle if you are taking medications. If you want to learn more about the effects and results of the studies that produced these findings read our blog post here(link). We interpret and translate these findings in a manner in which everyone can understand.

  • How long does it take for CBD to take effect?
  • What time of day do you take CBD oil?
  • Does it take time to build up in the body?
How long does it take for CBD to take effect?

This is still a point of uncertainty within the cannabis research world and industry alike. There are some reports of individuals feeling the effects less than an hour after consumption and others who report it taking longer. Keep in mind there are a variety of factors to consider like: method of ingestion, recent consumption of a meal, and dose of CBD when determining how long it will take to feel the effects. We suggest experimenting with these factors when determining what works best for you!

What time of day do you take CBD oil?

That depends on you and why you’re taking it. Research in this area is currently lacking so we recommend taking your CBD products when best suits your needs and schedule. For example if you’re taking these products in support of a restful night’s sleep we recommend you take your CBD about 30-45 minutes prior to bedtime. Just remember the effects of CBD take time to set in.

Does it take time to build up in the body?

it depends, everyone is different. You might feel effects following your first use or it might take a couple days to experience the full effects. Give your body time to adjust and change your CBD dosing as you see fit to suit your needs.
